Thanks tofreetech4teachers, I was able to conduct a highly successful and experimental three weeks of summer school learning with my 8-12 year old students. If you are having trouble finding cool things to do with your kid, check the following sites out. You will be glad that you did. All sites are kid tested:
The kids loved this site. We would write in the morning then publish after recess.
